Lieutenant General Colby M. Broadwater, III, is the third president of the American College of the Building Arts.
He became president in April of 2008.
President Broadwater came to the American College of the Building Arts after a 34-year military career in which
he garnered numerous accolades. During his tenure, LTG(R) Broadwater has streamlined operations and is leading the
College's efforts to receive accreditation. He is also credited with reducing the College's debt load,
reorganizing staffing levels and implementing programs that have increased student enrollment, even with the
current uncertainty of the economic climate – all without any degradation of ACBA's education product.
Prior to being named president, Lt. General Broadwater served on the ACBA Board of Trustees and spent one and a
half years working in corporate America, on national and international levels, overseeing multi-million dollar
government contracts.
During President Broadwater's military career, he served as a key advisor and staff member at the highest
echelons: Office of the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff; Headquarters, US European Command; Joint Headquarters
Centre, NATO, First United States Army Headquarters, III US Corps and Fort Hood. During Operation Iraqi Freedom,
Lt. General Broadwater commanded operations in Turkey and Northern Iraq.
Lt. General Broadwater is married to Jane Mason Broadwater of Summerville, SC. He received a B.A. from The
Citadel, an M.A. in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, and an M.A. in
International Relations from Salve Regina University.

Leigh Jones Handal has more than three decades of experience in public relations, marketing and development.
Her past positions in higher education include having served as Director of Institutional Advancement at the
Charleston School of Law; Director of Communications and Public Affairs at the S.C. Sea Grant Consortium;
andAssistant/Acting Director of College Relations at Winthrop University, where she founded the school’s
award-winning alumni magazine. She also has served as Director of Public Programs and Communications at Historic
Charleston Foundation from 1998 – 2010, and managed advancement programming at Pet Helpers and the Preservation
Society of Charleston.
Her marketing and publications initiatives have been recognized on the national level by the Council for the
Advancement and Support of Education, National Association of Governmental Communicators, and Take Pride in
America Foundation; on the regional and state levels by the S.C. Public Relations Association, Council for the
Advancement and Support of Education District III, Printing Industries of the Carolinas, and the Southeastern
Tourism Society (13 consecutive years); and on the local level by the Advertising Federation of America’s
Charleston’s Chapter, Post and Courier Best of Awards, City Paper’s Best of Awards, and Charleston Magazine’s
Best of Awards.
Dr. A. Wade Razzi

Dr. Razzi been involved in education for over 25 years. He has taught at the high school and college level and
founded a private high school in Georgetown, SC. He joined ACBA in 2017 where he helped guide the College toward
receiving its initial accreditation.
Dr. Razzi has overseen the expansion of the College's faculty, adding additional full-time faculty members as
needed. He has overseen the creation of a new craft specialization, the Classical Architecture and Design
program, thereby bringing another area of need into the College's portfolio.
Chad H. Urban

Mr. Urban is an attorney and a reservist with the United States Army Reserve. After serving as an adjudicator
in Workers Compensation, he transitioned into higher education, serving as the Director of General Education and
Interim Dean at Virginia College.
Mr. Urban began with ACBA in 2013, when he took the time to code the college’s records database from scratch.
Following this, he transitioned into the role of both the registrar and financial aid director for the college.
After developing both of these departments, he was promoted into a managerial role overseeing the College's
budgetary process. Mr. Urban has also managed the College's Veterans Affairs department and serves as its school
certifying official. He served as the lead on the College's accreditation efforts in 2017 and it's Title IV
approval in 2019. All the while, he has served as an adjunct professor for numerous courses including MATH101,
MATH102, SSCI201, ACCT301, and BALE402.
